Time and Distance


In covering a distance of 30 km, Satvik takes 2 hours more than Ram. If Satvik doubles his speed, then he would take 1 hour less than Ram. Satvik's speed is:
A) 5 kmph
B) 6 kmph
C) 6.25 kmph
D) 7.5 kmph

    Let the speed of Satvik be x and that of Ram be y

    Therefore 30/x - 30/y = 2

    30/2x - 30/y = -1

    On solving we get

    x = 5km/hr and
    y = 7.5km/hr
