Profit and Loss
A man purchased some
eggs at 3 for Rs. 5 and sold them at 5 for Rs. 12 thus he gained Rs. 143 in
all. How many eggs did he purchase?
Let the number of eggs purchased be x. Given: C.P of 3 eggs= Rs 5 ⇒C.P of x eggs= Rs5/3x and S.P of 5 eggs= Rs 12. so, S.P of x eggs = Rs 12/5x Now profit = S.P - C.P ⇒143 = 12x/5-5/3x ⇒143 = 36x-25x/15 = 11/15x ⇒143×15/11 = 195 Hence the man purchased 195 eggs.
